Developer Releases Open Source Nvidia Driver for macOS 15 Sequoia

An independent developer named NullMoth has published an open source Nvidia graphics driver for macOS 15 Sequoia. The project targets Turing and newer architectures, enabling display output and Metal support across modern GeForce and workstation cards. The software is available publicly on GitHub, though validation remains ongoing across various GPU models.

The driver supports modern Nvidia architectures starting with Turing. Target hardware includes the GTX 16 series alongside the RTX 20, 30, 40, and 50 series, plus TITAN RTX and Quadro workstation cards. The developer confirmed working display output and Metal functionality on an RTX 5060, with community members reporting operational setups on the RTX 5070, RTX 5080, and RTX 3060 Ti. In successful installations, macOS correctly identifies and displays the exact GPU model in the system hardware profiler.

NullMoth built the software as a macOS driver plugin that translates Apple Metal graphics calls directly into Vulkan instructions. The plugin also converts proprietary Apple shader code into the open SPIR V format to bypass the lack of native Nvidia support in recent operating system versions. This development represents the first functional path for modern Nvidia graphics acceleration on recent macOS releases, and users can access the project code directly through the NullMoth GitHub repository.
