2K has launched native PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S versions of Mafia III Definitive Edition, targeting 60 FPS gameplay. The release marks the 10 year milestone of the franchise entry and coincides with an 80% discount across digital storefronts. Upgrades are free for most previous generation digital owners, though save files cannot transfer over.
The console release brings 60 FPS performance to campaign action and real time cutscenes, while pre rendered cinematics stay locked at 30 FPS. Studio patch documentation states that lighting, texture rendering, and vegetation streaming have been stabilized to reduce visual pop in while driving through New Bordeaux. Free digital upgrades are available for PlayStation 4 physical and digital owners as well as Xbox One digital owners. Physical Xbox One disc owners are excluded from the free offer, and players must start new campaigns due to the absence of cross generation save file migration.
Steam players received a dedicated update resolving progression roadblocks across several story objectives. The patch fixes game halting bugs in missions such as Get Enzo Conti and Kill Tommy Marcano, alongside vehicle crash triggers near the Wharf. Frame rate cap options now extend to 120, 144, 180, and 240 FPS for high refresh displays. The update repairs broken achievement tracking, refines NPC movement routines, resolves interior lighting flickers, and fixes mouse cursor drift on multi monitor configurations.
The Definitive Edition includes the base story alongside 3 narrative expansions titled Faster Baby, Stones Unturned, and Sign of the Times. It also features 2 equipment bonus drops and forms part of the 4 game Mafia The Omerta Collection. A temporary 80% price cut applies to standalone digital editions on Steam, PlayStation, and Xbox digital stores during the ongoing franchise promotional event.
