Microsoft has announced the XBOX Nano Controller, an ultra compact gamepad measuring 5 inches in length and weighing 3.5 ounces. The portable peripheral includes 18 standard gameplay inputs and carries a retail price of $49.99. Preorders are open now through Microsoft, with initial retail shipments scheduled for November across more than 30 global markets.
The controller is shorter and lighter than typical mobile phones, designed for players with smaller hands and travel setups. Microsoft maintained a full layout featuring 18 standard inputs, ensuring full compatibility across console and PC software. The internal hardware includes a rechargeable battery alongside a programmable Action Button that maps to custom shortcuts, including screenshot capture and video recording. Wireless pairing relies on Bluetooth and proprietary XBOX Wireless connections.
Microsoft partnered with Samsung and Meta to distribute the hardware through holiday promotional bundles in the United States. Qualifying Samsung smart television purchases include the gamepad along with 2 months of Game Pass Ultimate for new subscribers, using the integrated Samsung Gaming Hub app to access cloud titles. A similar hardware package bundles the controller and 2 months of service with Meta Quest headsets.
The peripheral supports titles such as Forza Horizon 6 as well as Minecraft Dungeons II for local 4 player cooperative gaming sessions. Launch territories for the November rollout include the United States, Canada, China, Japan, Australia, the United Kingdom, and broad European markets. Global retail pricing is set at $49.99 USD, with local market rates varying by currency and region.
