PocketBook has introduced the Verta and Verta Color, expanding its compact e reader lineup with both monochrome and color E Ink displays. The lightweight devices pack water resistant bodies, integrated front lights, and physical page turn buttons below the screen. Both readers arrive in the European market priced at €169 for the monochrome version and €179 for the color model.
The standard Verta uses an E Ink Carta 1300 panel with a resolution of 1448x1072 pixels and a sharp 300 ppi density across 16 levels of gray. The Verta Color upgrades to an E Ink Kaleido 3 screen capable of showing 4096 colors at 150 ppi in color mode. Both units combine a touchscreen interface with dedicated hardware buttons on the lower bezel for manual page turns. Each chassis measures 154 by 107.5 by 7 millimeters and weighs only 140 grams, keeping the footprint pocket sized and easy to hold in 1 hand.
PocketBook installed a 1500 mAh battery that provides up to 2 months of reading time depending on backlight levels and wireless usage. Internal hardware includes 1GB of RAM, 16GB of storage for digital libraries, a USB C port for recharging, plus Wi Fi and Bluetooth connectivity. The devices run on Linux based PocketBook OS, which natively opens 25 different book formats without requiring file conversion. Water protection shields the internal components from accidental splashes and rain during daily travel.
