Samsung has confirmed that the new Galaxy SmartTag 3 works with Android smartphones from any manufacturer. The tracker pairs through official SmartThings and Samsung Find applications downloaded from the Google Play Store, ending the hardware exclusivity of previous generations. The device launches first in South Korea before rolling out to North America and international markets at $29.99 for 1 unit.
Samsung initially omitted third party device compatibility during the official product unveiling. Following direct inquiries from Android Police, company representatives confirmed that the Galaxy SmartTag 3 functions across competing Android hardware. Users only need access to the Google Play Store to install the Samsung Find and SmartThings applications. Previous generations required unofficial software workarounds like the uTag utility to pair with non Samsung hardware, making this official integration a significant operational shift.
The hardware features a physical redesign that relies on protective cases with rings or carabiners to attach to keys, bags, and luggage. Battery longevity has increased substantially over older models. The tracker delivers up to 550 days of battery life under normal daily operating conditions. Switching to the maximum energy saving mode extends operational life up to 790 days on a single cell.
Retail sales begin in South Korea before expanding to the US and international retail channels. Samsung has set the standalone price at $29.99 for 1 tracker, while a multi pack of 4 trackers retails for $99.99.
