Gamers have pointed out that Wukong's score is significantly lower than other Game of the Year contenders:

  • Astro Bot
  • Balatro
  • Final Fantasy VII Rebirth
  • Metaphor: ReFantazio
  • Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree

Previously, Control and A Plague Tale: Requiem held the record for the lowest-rated nominees, both with scores of 82. Some believe Wukong's nomination came at the expense of more critically acclaimed titles like the Silent Hill 2 remake (86 on Metacritic).

The Game Awards 2024 ceremony will take place on December 12th (US Time), with viewer voting beginning December 9th.
