Corden, speaking on the Xbox Two podcast, described the alpha gameplay as "fantastic," noting the influence of CD Projekt Red's The Witcher series on the combat system:

I very recently saw some Alpha gameplay footage from Fable...It looked fantastic. You can tell that this game has CD Project Red DNA...I'm not saying it's 100% one-to-one with The Witcher because it's not, but you can kind of tell with that melee combat, the pirouettes, the dodging...All that stuff is there; it looks super polished, super good.

He further detailed a variety of weapons and enemies, including a giant chicken and werewolves, adding to the game's unique blend of humor and danger:

Beyond that, there was a lot of mixing in of different weapon types...I saw some enemies, like a giant chicken, for example...Also, I saw werewolves. There was a scene where they lured a werewolf out of its lair with bacon and eggs and sausages.

While The Witcher 3's combat wasn't universally praised, Playground Games may have refined and improved upon its foundations. Corden's enthusiasm suggests a promising combat experience.

Additionally, Corden mentioned hearing about character selection options (likely male and female) at Summer Game Fest, which would be welcome news for players.

Fable is expected to launch in late 2025 for PC and Xbox Series S|X. With The Game Awards approaching, a new trailer with official gameplay footage might be on the horizon.
