ASUS Introduces RT-BE82U Wi-Fi 7 Router
ASUS is introducing a brand new router, the RT-BE82U. It comes with the new Wi-Fi 7 standard onboard. It's not another router. It's designed to be fast, stable, and capable of dealing with whatever your connected household can throw at it. The price is attractively affordable.
Bundled with Power and Performance
At the heart of the RT-BE82U is a robust quad-core 2.0 GHz Broadcom processor. It is aided by 1 GB of speedy DDR4 RAM. Together, they allow the router to manage several devices and heavy tasks with ease. ASUS is touting a combined bandwidth of up to 6500 Mbps. This is more than sufficient for high-definition streaming and heavy online use.
One tidy feature is the capacity for Multi-Link Operation (MLO). If you've got MLO-capable devices as well (and there are others on the horizon), they can connect to the router on different Wi-Fi bands simultaneously. It's like multiple lanes on the internet highway for one device. This is ideal for slashing lag and boosting speed.
Want to stream incredible 8K video with HDR. ASUS claims this router is up to the task. For wired connections, you've got four 2.5 Gbps LAN ports. These are perfect for hooking up gaming PCs, NAS drives, or other high-speed devices. There's even a USB 3.0 Type-A port for network storage or other peripherals.
Staying Cool and Secure
That data and speed all get processed and can generate heat. But ASUS seems to have considered that. The RT-BE82U has an aluminum alloy radiator and lots of air vents. These help keep the parts running smoothly and dependably.
Security is also important. The router has AiProtection technology to keep your home network safe from common network attacks. Gamers will appreciate the NetEase UU Accelerator software included to optimize gaming connections.
Thinking of extending your Wi-Fi range. The RT-BE82U plays nice with ASUS's AiMesh technology. This allows you to easily link it up with other ASUS routers that are AiMesh compatible. This creates a seamless, house-wide mesh Wi-Fi system.
Price and When You Can Get It
So, how much will this Wi-Fi 7 behemoth set you back. ASUS RT-BE82U costs an affordable $206. It launches in the Chinese market on April 30th. We'll just have to wait and see when we can get it in other markets.
All in all, the ASUS RT-BE82U seems to be a solid option for those wanting to move up to Wi-Fi 7 without breaking the bank. With solid specs, sensible features, and a focus on performance, it's definitely worth keeping an eye on.
