Oh, here we go again-a blame game whenever new projects don't quite pan out. But this time, a voice actress from the high-octane anticipated release of Dragon Age: The Veilguard comes out giving her own input as to why the RPG may face a fallout and no, it's not about the game itself, she posits.
Alyx Wilton Regan, one of the voices with which fans readily identify from Dragon Age's long line of installments, firmly believes that "The Veilguard" is a "very strong game." She even proceeds to say she thinks BioWare was at the top of its game. What, then, was wrong according to her. The partying sour for these people is said to be by "bad people" on the internet, which apparently were after the company's downfall.
"I was completely broken by this mixed reception of the game," said Regan. "I really think it is a very strong game. In my opinion, BioWare has outdone itself. And I have the impression that many wanted it to fail and saw BioWare go down because there are so many bad people on the Internet, as we all know; they started attacking The Veilguard before it was released. It is ridiculous. How can you condemn something like a game, book, movie, or TV show before it's released. You can't. In my opinion, that's completely moronic."
Of course, Regan's angry defense of the title would be justified, but perhaps not entirely to represent the views of many long-time fans. "The Veilguard" has almost all the complaints directed to its very tangible points: a history apparently flaccid, a change in the game's visual style, and darkness-more gritty effects from play that would attract players to the Dragon Age universe.
Even if it is true that cyberspace becomes a different political haven for negativity, Avowed or Assassin's Creed Shadows are just some of several big titles that overcame this contrary tide. Such great sales and positive audiences meant that online detractors did not hold the ultimate power over a game's fate.
Whatever it may be, the question of whether "The Veilguard's" problems originated within its own development choices or external online pressures will probably be debated by many people within the gaming community.
