Grand Theft Auto 6: Second Official Trailer Unveils More of Leonida, Jason, and Lucia

Rockstar Games finally rolled out the second official trailer for Grand Theft Auto 6, and it's packed with fresh glimpses of the sunny, crime-ridden state of Leonida. At last, after all these years, the game finally puts the spotlight on the dual protagonists, Jason and Lucia, and the danger-scarred path they tread.

Get to Know Jason and Lucia: A Bond Created in Turmoil

The new video gives us a much clearer picture of Jason's life, with his everyday routine prior to his seemingly getting back in contact with Lucia, whom we see getting released from prison. From there on, it's out of control to the return to their life of crime, as they rob and deal with the seedy underworld of Vice City.

It looks like Jason and Lucia are trying to establish a new reality for themselves, looking to put their mark on the world. But, much like in Grand Theft Auto, their dreams meet ferocious resistance – not just from law enforcers, but from other criminal forces.

Rockstar's formal description of the trailer tees up for drama:

"Jason and Lucia have never had any illusions about the odds being against them. But when a routine score turns sour, they find themselves on the blackest fringe of the brightest place in America, in the center of a statewide conspiracy — forced to rely on each other more than ever before if they are to escape alive."

A Glimmer of Good News After a Delay

This trailer drop is welcome news to gamers after the recent confirmation by Rockstar of a revised release timeline. Grand Theft Auto 6 is now officially set to drop on May 26, 2026, from the originally hoped Fall 2025 launch date. Fortunately, unlike its original trailer equivalent, this has fallen without even a hint of previous leak, which is welcome news for Rockstar.

The near-three-minute trailer has been set to "Hot Together" by The Pointer Sisters and seems to have been filmed straight onto a PlayStation 5, which means the stunning graphics are representative of what players can expect on next-gen hardware.

What We've Learned So Far

Building on the first trailer, where we were first introduced to the bright, modern Vice City and got our first glimpse of Lucia, this second clip develops the plot and the interaction between the two protagonists. We are getting to know how their pasts intersect and what is at risk for them as they try to start anew.

The trailer of the old version also made reference to other in-game features like using social media within the world of the game, dynamic weather, diverse wildlife, and areas that were quite similar to GTA 5 nightclubs.

Now that a release date has been set and even more of the story is seen, the wait for Grand Theft Auto 6 is rising greater than ever before.
