Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge Unveiled: A New Era of Slim Design
Samsung just unveiled the Galaxy S25 Edge, and clearly they were after something special here from their design and engineering staffs. This device is not only thin, but it is actually the thinnest smartphone flagship Samsung has ever made at 5.8mm thick. It's almost as light as holding a bunch of air: just 163 grams. How did Samsung make this device thin without eliminating the essence of what a smartphone needs to do, though, and what got cut in the process?
A Visual Treat and Solid Core
Let's start with what catches the eye. The Galaxy S25 Edge boasts a vibrant 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display. With a QHD+ resolution and adaptive refresh rate that fluidly shifts between 1Hz and 120Hz, images should be stunning. Over this beautiful screen is Corning's latest Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2.
Under the hood, there's no powering down. The S25 Edge features Qualcomm's 8-core Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, supplemented by a generous 12GB of RAM. You have options for 256GB or 512GB of onboard storage, though, as is so frequently the case, you won't be able to expand it with a microSD card.

The Art of the Slim Profile: Where Adjustments Were Made
To arrive that lean a record, Samsung needed to play it smart. Let's start with the battery. The Galaxy S25 Edge packs a 3,900mAh cell. Not tiny, but smaller than you might find in chunkier flagships. It's 25W wired charging capable, which Samsung claims can charge it to 55% in about 30 minutes. Conveniently, Qi wireless charging is also available.
The other major change is in the camera department. Rather than triple-camera arrays that other Galaxy S25 models offer, the Edge has a dual-camera setup at the back. The headlining act here is a 200MP sensor with an F/1.7 aperture and integrated Optical Image Stabilization. Samsung is taking a bold stance by saying that this one sensor can provide 2x optical quality zoom, something that will definitely be tested to its limits. Alongside this monstrosity is a 12MP F/2.2 ultrawide-angle lens. For self-portraits, you get a 12MP front camera.
Other Notable Facts
- The phone is rated IP68 for dust and water resistance, so it can take the weather.
- It will ship with Android 15, but skinned in Samsung's own One UI 7.
- Colors are Titanium Silver, Titanium Jetblack, and Titanium Icyblue.
Pricing and Availability
The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge will start at $1,099. You may circle your calendars because sales officially become available May 30th. It seems evident Samsung is pursuing users who love an ultra-slim and ultralight profile, but who still desire top-of-the-line performance at a cost of sacrificing a couple well-conceived concessions.
