IO Interactive Says New 007 Game is Prequel with Parts Out in Bits
The firm IO Interactive gave out fresh news on the James Bond game, now called 007 First Light. Set to start in 2026, the game will roll out in bits after launch and tells the tale of a young Bond.

Plan After Launch Like What Was Done for Hitman. Talking to Game Business, the boss of IO Interactive, Hakan Abrak let out that 007 First Light will see updates like their Hitman games. This means fans will get new parts or missions over time.
These will be for a short run, to make fans play them fast before they are taken off.
Why Go with a Young James Bond
In a talk at the 2025 Summer Game Fest, the game’s lead boss, Jonathan Lacaille talked about why they chose a young Bond. He said it pulls in young players more.
With a young Bond, they can show bold and fast acts. Lacaille said they kept old fans in mind too.
Why Set it Before Other Tales
The game goes back in time on purpose. Lacaille said this helps draw lines to the Bond movies and might set up more games later. This fresh tale gives a new twist to the Bond story.
