Game fans who got AMD's Radeon RX 9070 or the RX 9070 XT will find a nice gift. PC Games Hardware just showed that the new AMD drivers give a clear boost to these cards. They work much better than when they first came out.
The Radeon RX 9070 and RX 9070 XT, out since March, were tested again with the new Radeon Software Adrenalin driver, version 25.6.2. The tests brought great news for people who own these top models from "Team Red."
On average, the new software led to these gains:
- Path Tracing Speed The RX 9070 got 8% faster, and the RX 9070 XT went up by 9%.
- Ray Tracing Speed Both models saw a small 2% rise.
- Traditional Rasterization Speed Both cards saw a 1% hike.
While the overall boosts are good, some games saw even bigger leaps. For example:
- In Portal RTX (using path tracing), the RX 9070 XT sped up by an amazing 19%.
- Half-Life RT saw the same card get 17% faster.
- Indiana Jones and the Great Circle (with path tracing) saw a 16% boost on the RX 9070 XT.
- For regular ray tracing, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle showed jumps of 11% for the RX 9070 and 13% for the RX 9070 XT. Forza Motorsport also improved, with gains of 5% and 8%.
Even games with traditional rasterization noted some good boosts. Like in Warhammer 40,000 Space Marine 2, where the RX 9070 XT got 16% quicker.
It looks like AMD's software team has been very busy making these powerful cards work much better since they first came out.
