A brand new contender has entered the stage. A brand new little independent studio, Raw Power Games, made a public announcement of their very first game, titled "Chronicles: Medieval," during Summer Game Fest 2025. And believe me it sounds very special.
Well, the studio is quite new and has been headquartered in Copenhagen, Denmark. However, its fairly large developmental team comprises of around 100 developers and is scattered all over Europe. Now, that doesnt mean theyre new at this whole concept; were talking seasoned pros, people whove poured their talents into some of the biggest games you know and love The Witcher 3, Assassins Creed, Hitman, Red Dead Redemption 2, Cyberpunk 2077, and even Grand Theft Auto. Some serious pedigree.
The team has termed the title as such "Dynamic medieval sandbox RPG". Imagine that Europe, somewhere between the 14th and 15th centuries. You are not just playing a story, you are writing it. Raw Power Games is aiming for a living, breathing world where every choice you make ripples through time, and every clash of steel could rewrite your destiny. Fighting for land, seeking glory, saving your name as you lead vast armies into heart-pounding battles. All of this is being brought to life with the power of Unreal Engine 5, along with the studios own "Asgard" technology.
"And when you want to carve out a kingdom, lead armies into battle, or become the most prosperous trader, history is written by their hand in Chronicles: Medieval," said Andrzej Zawadzki, Senior Designer at Raw Power Games. He also stressed on how their community will be involved in, "listening and working with our community to make our first game a truly epic adventure," driving toward early access.
That was reflected by Clemens Koch, Senior Community Manager, who pointed out that, "We believe the best ideas often come from players themselves, and we look forward to building the game with our community, offering early playtests and feedback sessions." He also encouraged players to join their dedicated Discord channel to participate.
And the start of your journey will involve creating your character. You will then be immersed in a world filled with hardship and golden opportunities, and of course, you wont be alone. You will recruit, train, and lead your troops into epic confrontations, all under your control with full customization. Prepare to command from on high, but feel free to jump in and go down to the front lines with a third-person view. Fancy a skirmish with friends Custom co-op battles are on the menu too
Authenticity seems to be a big deal here. Expect to see historical units like the deadly English longbowmen, the charging French cavalry, and the unyielding Imperial pole-arm infantry. The combat is supposed to come around in these lines engaging and true-to-life medieval feeling with fluent weapon mechanics. To top it all, Raw Power Games has even joined forces with Historical European Martial Arts (HEMA) expert Björn Rüther to capture the true weigh and precision of particular historical fighting styles. And fear not if you arent very much into all-out war as the game comes with no fixed narration allowing for diplomacy and personal choices.
Last but not least, the developers hinted at giving players "the freedom, support and technology they need to create, share, and reshape the game world." Now while they never actually said "modding," it sure sounds as if we are going to find some fun ways to put our own stamp on "Chronicles: Medieval." More on that as we get it
Mark those calendars PC gamers "Chronicles: Medieval" will be available on early access next year, so keep your eye on this particular page.
