New Leak Shows GPD Strix Halo Game Handheld With Top-End Power
A new photo has shown a test game handheld from maker GPD, run by AMD's top "Strix Halo" APU. This tool shows big power wins over other handhelds now out, but it might just be a test piece and may not come out to the public due to high costs.
Power Marks and Details
The test tool uses AMD's Ryzen AI Max+ 395 chip, which has the strong RDNA 3.5-based Radeon 8060S built-in GPU. Key facts from the leak are:
- APU: AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 ("Strix Halo")
- iGPU: Radeon 8060S
- 3DMark Time Spy Graphic Points: 10,366
This graphic score tops the points of the best handhelds now, which often use "Strix Point" APUs with the Radeon 890M iGPU. The power hints the GPD test could run most new games at 1080p, with top settings at over 60 FPS, though this would need a high Thermal Design Power (TDP).

The Cost Issue Why a Public Drop is Not Sure
Though the power is big, the main block is the cost. Strix Halo APUs are costly, with mini-PCs using the same piece often priced over $1,500. A game handheld with this build could top $2,000, making it too much for regular buyers.
From cost and power use issues, sources say the test was made for in-house tests and might not come out for sale.
Build and Possible GPD Win 5 Link
The build of the test looks like the GPD Win 4 but lacks the slide-up screen part. This makes some think it could be a hint of a coming GPD Win 5.
Still, even with these build hints, insiders are not sure if a Strix Halo-based GPD handheld will turn into a real product.
