There are talks of Nintendo blocking Switch 2 consoles when they catch them being hacked. Now, these non-working devices are popping up for sale again. These "bricked" consoles won't work for those who buy them.

People who try to buy a Nintendo Switch 2 for less are running into these blocked units. Posts on sites like Reddit tell us that some got consoles that show "Error Code: 2124-4508." This error means that Nintendo's online services won't work on the device, making it almost useless.

At times, these bricked consoles have been taken back to stores. One case showed a person buying a Switch 2 from Walmart, only to see the ban error. The past owner had sent the console back after it was blocked. Luckily, in this case at the store, the buyer could return the broken one. This option isn't often there for online buys from others.

Nintendo puts these bans in place because of the use of tools like MIG cartridges, made to skip the system's license checks. Due to these bans, people worry that the market for used Nintendo Switch 2 could get risky and tricky for those not expecting it.
