Nothing Phone (3) U.S. Launch on Amazon CEO Carl Pei Discusses Market Entry Strategy and Premium Features

The smartphone company Nothing is set to launch its next flagship device, the Nothing Phone (3), in the United States. TechCrunch has reported that the new phone will be available for purchase on Nothing's website and also through Amazon.

This is an important step for the company. Although Nothing has released several phones since it started in 2020, only the Phone (2) had a general release in the U.S. Previous models were often sold through limited beta programs without full after-sales support.

Carl Pei, CEO of Nothing and co-founder of OnePlus, emphasized the company's long-term vision. Pei told TechCrunch,

"We have always said we are building for the long term, and now we’re ready to take that next step in the U.S."

He views the Phone (3) as a key product for the company, aiming to provide a unique choice in a market dominated by a few major players.

"A lot of people are hungry for something different. This is the right product and the right moment to start scaling in North America,"

Pei added. Nothing hopes that its distinct design approach will appeal to American consumers looking for alternatives to established brands like Apple, Samsung, and Google.

The Nothing Phone (3) will have improved carrier support in the U.S., including compatibility with AT&T and T-Mobile networks for both 4G and 5G. This is an upgrade from the more limited carrier options of previous models.

In Canada, Nothing is also expanding its reach. The Phone (3) and a new over-ear headphone model, Headphone (1), will be sold through Best Buy, marking their first availability in Canadian retail stores.

In earlier statements, Carl Pei hinted that the Nothing Phone (3) will include premium materials, performance upgrades, and software improvements. The expected price is around £800, which may translate to about $1,000 in the U.S., putting it in competition with other high-end flagship devices.

Industry analysts point out that while Nothing shipped millions of units worldwide in 2024, with India as its largest market, entering the premium U.S. market is a tough challenge. Companies like Google and Motorola have made some progress, but the segment is heavily dominated by Apple and Samsung. Nothing faces a difficult task to build a strong presence in North America.
