Samsung may start charging for some parts of its Samsung Health service, says Dr. Hong Park, who leads the company's digital health. This could mean that to use some top health tools on Galaxy Watch devices, you would need to pay regularly.
The company hasn't said which Galaxy Watch features might need payment. But a Samsung talker pointed out that parts from the soon-to-be One UI 8 Watch update could be included. Features that might cost money include:
- Blood flow signs
- Tips to sleep better made just for you
- Checks on body antioxidants
- More top health tools
This way of doing things would be like what you see with Fitbit Premium or Garmin Connect Plus, which keep some features only for paying users.
New Galaxy Watch models might get these top features for free at first. But, people with old Galaxy Watch devices may have to pay to use them. Samsung has said before that how you use new features could change as time goes on.
This plan fits with what Samsung has said before about some Galaxy AI features. These are set to be free only until the end of 2025. The company has not shared full plans or timing for starting to charge for these health or AI features.
