Splitgate 2 In-Game Item Prices Unhappy Players High Costs for Cosmetics and Developer Response

The new, free game Splitgate 2 already has players unhappy about how much its extra in-game looks cost. Many were shocked at the prices, with some sets as pricey as a new, top-level game.

Early users of Splitgate 2 saw the high costs in the game's shop right away. For example, a fancy set named "Nano Swarm," which has a new look for a character, color changes, a special portal look, and gun colors, was tagged at 8,000 splitcoins. That's about $70 in real money. Players also noted that just changing a portal's color to white cost about $34.

At first, the game makers, 1047 Games, said the big prices were fair as a lot more work went into these fancy sets. But this reason did not go down well with the gaming crowd, leading to a lot of bad talk on social media and bad reviews on Steam.

While it's not rare for free games to have high-priced extras, the pushback on Splitgate 2 led to a big change. To fix the issue with players, 1047 Games plans to cut the price of the Nano Swarm set by 50% for good. They also said they would look at how other items are priced in the game shop.

It's unclear if these cuts will bring back the good vibes of the Splitgate 2 players. They will keep an eye on how the game team handles in-game sales from now on.
