Focus Entertainment dropped some incredible news Warhammer 40,000 Space Marine 2 has sold over seven million copies. That's huge for the third-person shooter from Saber Interactive, which launched all the way back on September 9, 2024.
The game was an instant success, selling two million copies on its first day. That number climbed to five million by the end of November. Due to its popularity, a sequel, Warhammer 40,000 Space Marine 3, was announced in March and is already in the works, promising even bigger battles for fans to enjoy.
Even with a sequel on the horizon, the support for Space Marine 2 isn't slowing down. At this year's 2025 Skulls event, a brand new game mode called "Siege Mode" was revealed and will be coming in just a few weeks' time.
Saber Interactive provided a tease of what Siege Mode has to offer:
Imagine yourself holding an Imperial stronghold on the planet of Kadaku. You'll be fighting off incessant waves of Tyranids and the treacherous Thousand Sons. The battlefield is composed of three rotating sectors the Defensive Positions, the Arsenal, and the Control Room. Your squad will survive five waves in each sector before moving on to the next, circling around eventually to reinforce stressed areas.
The challenge will grow with each wave, from direct Tyranid assaults to sneaky sabotage from Chaos forces. You'll get brief one-minute respites between waves to strategize, marked clearly on your screen. Dynamic objectives, like securing key points or extracting intel from fallen comrades, will add tactical depth and reward you with much-needed supplies for your survival.
Successfully defending against enemies and completing these secondary tasks will grant you special Siege Mode resources. You can expend those resources in the fortress Shop on:
- Purchasing essentials for ammo, medicae stimms, equipment boosts, armor upgrades, as well as guardian relics (these all work exactly as they do within Operations Mode).
- Summoning specialist Space Marines that grant targeted assistance as well as bonuses (one per player may be active).
- Calling in Cadian Troopers for supplementary firepower.
- Combine your resources with your team to unleash the ruinous might of a Dreadnought.
The new mode sounds like a tactical and thrilling addition that will keep players engaged in the grim darkness of the far future.
