Microsoft Might Fire Many from Xbox Team

Microsoft looks to be making big job cuts again in its Xbox Game area. News from insiders, shared by Bloomberg, says the firm might let go of up to 2000 people. This is 10-20% of the team's full count.

Studios Likely To Be Hit

The cuts will mainly hit Turn 10 Studios, makers of the well-known Forza Motorsport games. Reports say the cuts could even lead to the shut-down of whole game-making teams.

Teams at risk of shutting down include:

  • Ninja Theory
  • Rare
  • Playground Games

Microsoft's Big Changes

This round would be the fourth time Microsoft has cut jobs in just 18 months. They've made big changes recently:

  • Last Month: 6,000 workers lost jobs.
  • September 2024: 650 workers lost jobs.

Before these, places like Arkane Austin and Alpha Dog Games shut down. Another, Tango Gameworks, closed but came back under new boss Krafton.
