Gearbox Picks Date for Borderlands 4 on Nintendo Switch 2
Gearbox now has a date for when Borderlands 4 will be out on the new Nintendo Switch 2. On a video call, boss Randy Pitchford said the game will hit this Nintendo machine on October 3, 2025. This is after its first show on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, set for September 12, 2025.

The news came from Pitchford in a big, showy way. Shared on X (once called Twitter), he teased the news in a fun way, talking about how hard it is to make a game, before giving out the October 3rd date. He made it clear this date is well before the holiday rush, making this small delay seem okay.

Not Long to Wait for Switch 2 Users
This date means those with a Nintendo Switch 2 have to wait just under a month more than others. Yes, a wait is not fun, but this brief time lets Switch 2 users check out early reviews and how well it plays before they buy it.
It’s also a first chance to see if Gearbox’s claim that Borderlands 4 has the best late game of the series holds up, as other players will have reached this point. How well the game runs and matches up on Switch 2 compared to other places will be watched by many.
Price Is Still Important
How much the game costs when it comes out on Switch 2 will get a lot of looks too, after past talks about how much Borderlands 4 might cost. A price jump for this new Switch 2 version would not be good news at launch time.
