Elgato's Facecam 4K, from Corsair, Adds Pro Cam Tech to Webcams

Corsair's Elgato now has a new webcam, the Facecam 4K. It has pro cam tools which are not seen in basic webcams. This cam can record clear, raw video and you can add lens filters right on it.

Main Features and How it Shows Pics

This Facecam 4K uses a Sony Starvis 2 (1/1.8") sensor. It can stream and record in 4K at 60 fps, or 4K at 30 fps if you turn on HDR.

With its own software, you can change key pic settings:

  • ISO
  • Shutter Speed
  • Exposure
  • White Balance

This software also lets you fix colors with LUTs. Plus, if you have a NVIDIA GeForce RTX GPU, you can blur the background with AI.

A Top Feature Adds Optical Filters

What makes the Facecam 4K special is it lets you use 49mm lens filters. This lets you tweak the look before the pic hits the sensor. Filters you can use are:

  • CPL (cuts glare and mirror-like looks)
  • Diffusion Filters (can smooth out the look)

To set it up, put the cam on a screen or on any tripod using its 1/4-inch thread.

Cost and When You Can Buy It

The Elgato Facecam 4K costs $199 in the US.
