Off The Grid Launches on Steam
Off The Grid has wrapped up its early game test and is now out for all on Steam. The game was made by Gunzilla Games, started by Neill Blomkamp, who made the movie District 9.
Main Game Play Robot Parts and High Moves
Off The Grid brings new ways to play to the survival game type. The focus is on robot body parts.
- Findable Robot Parts: You can find and use 15 types of robot parts in a game.
- Swap Skills: These parts give you different skills and can be changed quickly.
- Breakable Parts: You can shoot off other players' robot parts, stopping their skills.
- High Flying: The game lets you move up and about with high-tech jetpacks.
The Place of Teardrop Island and What Comes Next
The game happens on dark Teardrop Island, a big place with both inside and outside areas. Gunzilla Games says the current game mode is just the start, and a full 60-hour story game is planned for later this year.
Words on AI use in Making the Game
The game's Steam page notes that Off The Grid uses AI for early design tasks. This includes making first art ideas, sound bits, and AI-helped set up for text and voice. The team adds that these bits get polished up by them, and they say, "No AI stuff is made while playing."
Off The Grid is now ready to get and play for free on Steam.
