Samsung Shows Off New Color E-Paper Screen that Uses No Power for Still Pics
Samsung has brought out its Color E-Paper (model EM32DX), a 32-inch screen made for use in stores and places where food is sold. Its big win is showing still stuff, like ads or menus, without needing power all the time.
How the Tech Works
The heart of this screen uses tiny ink caps. Inside these are four color bits (red, yellow, blue, and white). An electric push brings these colors up to make a pic. Once the pic is up, it stays there with no need for more power, making it much better for saving energy.
The setup is also made to be put up easy. It's just 8.6 mm thick and weighs 2.5 kg, even with its battery.
Top Color with Special Tech
A main part is Samsung’s own Color Imaging Tech. This lets the screen create up to 2.5 million shades from six main colors. Samsung says this makes colors 40 times richer than old e-paper ways, making pics smooth and nice to look at.
Use and Going Green
The system is run through the Samsung VXT setup, where users can pick colors, plan out layouts, and set updates. It also uses old plastic in the screen’s body and comes in green packing.
Awards and What’s Next
This Samsung Color E-Paper tech got some prizes at the Integrated Systems Europe (ISE) 2025 event. Looking forward, Samsung plans to bring out more screen sizes and keep working on color tech.
