AMD CEO Lisa Su Talks Growth Plan Amid Market Fears
In a fresh talk, AMD CEO Lisa Su was firm about the firm's run for the rest of the year, even with a rough Q2 show that gave them a GAAP loss and a dip in share cost. Su feels AMD is "coming off a very good first half" and is set for a "very good second half," speaking to good signs from clients.
Data Center Work Seen as Key Growth Part
Su marked the data center part as main in AMD's road to win. Facing low moods from investors, she said, "I would say that our DC work is doing very well," noting it as the "chief push for our growth." Points on the data center work have:
- AMD wants to be the "tech base for big hyperscalers."
- The firm is getting "good signs from our clients about the future."
- Proof of this power is 33 straight parts of year-on-year growth in the server field.
The AI Chance and the Hit of China Rules
The income fall in Q2 was tied to US rules on GPU sales to China. Su said AMD is tight with the government on AI chip checks but shared that while okay for licenses is in work, it's not yet ok. Yet, she pointed out that AMD is in the "midst of a huge AI chance," thought to be worth "tens of billions of bucks."
View on US Making and the World Supply Chain
When asked on making chips in the US, Su said AMD is "all for making in the US" and that being strong helps. Still, she added that the "chip supply chain is a world chain" and that AMD must tap all of it soon. She did say that AMD is "moving some of our chips to the US in Arizona."
Look Ahead
Even with Q2 show, Su's view is still up, seeing 28% rise in the next part. Her plan is to rule the data center field with "trustworthy, top-grade, fair-cost chips" as clients want, while using the big rise in AI cash input.
