Epic Games CEO Calls Out Report of Disney Fortnite Project Delay

Tim Sweeney, head of Epic Games, has hit back at a Wall Street Journal report saying the Disney Fortnite project is late. He says that, in truth, the work is moving forward fast.

Project Details: A $1.5 Billion Big World

In February 2024, Disney put $1.5 billion into Epic Games. They plan to make a big, lasting fun world in Fortnite that mixes in parts from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, Avatar, and more.

Epic's top boss, Saxs Persson, said before that they want a world where players can move from a Fortnite thing to a Disney thing easily.

The "Bulldog" Talk and Said Delays

The Wall Street Journal, with tips from people in Epic, said the project, called "Bulldog", was slow. They said it was because many parts of Disney had to OK things before the work could go on.

Tim Sweeney Says It's Not True

Sweeney spoke out on X (once Twitter), saying the slow down talk was wrong. He shared that they are moving 10 times faster than usual in this kind of work.

He also said he had told the writer this, but it wasn't used in the piece.

Not Talking About When It Will Come Out

While Sweeney was firm about no slow downs, he didn't touch on another part of the report. It said the Fortnite and Disney mix might be out in Fall 2026 at the soonest. This makes it look like, even if things are going well, it's still a big job that will take some time.
