The Kojima Death Stranding Story Will End Here, Not Directing a 3rd Game
Death Stranding may be one of the most popular games in the newly invented genre that can be called "courier-simulator". However, it seems that Hideo Kojima is closing the sequel series with this upcoming sequel. The game designer has stated that there will be no continuation to the game beyond the sequel.
Future of Franchise
According to Kojima, the entire story of Death Stranding has been told in two games, although he had outlined a possible idea for another third installment. This discussion was about the game at which time he made it clear that since there would probably be a third part, it would be done by someone else.
This directs a full shift of his full focus towards some major productions, which are currently in development at his studio.
What's Next to Come from Kojima Productions
Kojima's focus now is solely on two upcoming titles:
Legacy in the Making
Hideo Kojima recently turned 62 years old and he reassures the fans that he shall be in the games building process for as long as possible. The fact that Kojima is getting older implies that he may be more judicious in the types of projects he leads because of his advancing age, and so stepping away from a potential Death Stranding 3 is a sensible choice in terms of new creative endeavors.
