Why Nintendo Switch 2 Games Might Not Use NVIDIA DLSS
Tech pros at Digital Foundry think that Nintendo's new games for Switch 2, like Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza, won't use NVIDIA's DLSS tech. They say Nintendo's game engines might not handle it.
Main Problem Game Engine Limitations
Digital Foundry thinks these game engines may not work with what DLSS needs, like motion vectors. Adding this would need a lot of work. Also, Donkey Kong Bananza uses AMD's simpler tech, FSR 1, which doesn’t ask as much from the system.
The Role of Nintendo's Art Style
Besides tech issues, Nintendo's fun, simple style might play a role. These games, like Mario Kart World, look okay without needing sharp DLSS tech. The light edges aren’t a big worry because of the simple art.
DLSS Could Still Come to Switch 2
Even if not right at launch, DLSS might be in later Nintendo games. They've worked with NVIDIA to make sure the Switch 2 can use DLSS, showing they value it. It’s also in the "Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour" info.
The good look of FSR 1 in Donkey Kong Bananza shows DLSS could help. Games made with DLSS in mind from the start could make the most of it.
