Wargaming Announces World of Tanks: Heat, a New Hero-Tank Shooter
World of Tanks: Heat new hero-tank shooter has announced the newest game by Wargaming. The title "World of Tanks: Heat" was revealed by Wargaming during GamesCom Opening Night Live. According to the description, this is a new experiment in the franchise with tactical tank combat in a much quicker, much more vibrant format, leaning toward the concept of a team-based hero shooter.
Gameplay: World of Tanks, but Faster and More Colorful
The whole visual style is bright, colorful, and futuristic, targeting an audience somewhat similar to those found in hero shooters like Overwatch, but you will be in a tank. Each tank will be piloted by an elite Agent specially trained to pilot these war machines.
Heavy-emphasized customization on vehicles: Players can shape their tanks based on what playstyle they want with:
- Advanced weapon systems
- Armor modules
- Visual upgrades
- Battlefield-altering abilities
Monetization: A Free-to-Win Model
World of Tanks: Heat would be free-to-play and will be marketed by Wargaming as "free-to-win". This model is supposed to be meant for playing for a long time, with success being attributed to the player's skill.
The monetization strategy would be divided into three main parts:
- Cosmetics
- Battle passes
- Time savers
The mention of time-savers is worth noting because they imply that players might be allowed to pay to skip some of the more tedious parts of progression. As of now, Wargaming hasn't provided any specific details on what these time-savers will be.
Initial Reception
The whole idea of "heroic tank gameplay" is hyped as the main selling point or core element of this title. While the concept may be new as far as a hero shooter based on tanks goes, the announcement has certainly created much interest among players in the direction this franchise will be taking.
