Mortal Kombat 2 Release Pushed to May 2026

Mortal Kombat 2 gets its new showtime officially. The sequel to the 2021 action film now lands in theaters on May 15, 2026, a seven-month postponement from the previously slated date of October 24, 2025.

A Delay with a Plan, Not an Issue with Quality

From Deadline: Reports from Deadline say it's all box office strategy for Warner Bros., not anything like quality issues. They believe avoiding a crowded fall movie season will serve them better and spring will offer more chance of a hit.

This reassures us because test screenings were successful. There are no plans for reshoots, which means the production is proceeding on schedule, whereas the delay was made purely for market positioning.
