XFX Radeon RX 9060 XT Now Sports Samsung GDDR6, Cools by 10 Degrees
AMD partner XFX has revamped its Radeon RX 9060 XT graphics card with an update from SK Hynix GDDR6 memory modules to Samsung GDDR6. According to company report, this change would provide a significant thermal and efficiency upgrade on the card for longer stable performance.
New "V3" Revision and Its Advantages
The new Radeon RX 9060 XT is termed the "V3" in the updated models and uses memory modules from Samsung, whose temperature management is claimed by XFX to be significantly better. This is, in fact, a significant finding, considering that previous industry reports claimed that Samsung GDDR6 tends to show greater heat generation in comparison with SK Hynix modules.
XFX also revealed the following regarding burn-in conditions:
- Lower Temperature: Samsung memory operates at 77°C, which is 10°C cooler than the 87°C that the SK Hynix version hit in similar burn-in conditions.
- Less Fan Noise: This lowering of temperature has been achieved at fans rated to spin considerably slower (1461 RPM on the V3 vs. 1814 RPM on the older model).
- Lower Watts: At FurMark 4K, the V3 model consumed 183W, and the SK Hynix one consumed 207W.
Influences on Performance and User Experience
The reasons are clear concerning this component change. The cooler GPU could hold memory frequency better, leading to fewer chances of performance drops during long bouts of usage. This update also brings lower power and heat, as well as lesser noise from the cooling fans, which all contribute to a better user experience.
How to Find Updated Model
XFX has put V3 Radeon RX 9060 XT for sale on online shopping websites like JD.com. For example, on these platforms, consumers will be able to know that the version is the newly improved version because of the "V3" suffix attached to the product t
