Xiaomi 17 Series Records Sales in Opening Minutes
Xiaomi has set the new sales record on the three flagship mobile smartphones Xiaomi 17, Xiaomi 17 Pro, and Xiaomi 17 Pro Max. The company claims that this milestone was reached within the first five minutes of the devices going on open sale in China.
First with Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5
The trio of devices is the first batch of Android smartphones to come with the most recent Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset. This series has replaced the earlier Xiaomi 15 and Xiaomi 15 Pro models of the last generation.
Context Behind the Sales Record
Celebrating the sales record, Xiaomi has kept mum on the specifics concerning the number of units sold or on the earnings accrued within this initial sales period. Also, partly responsible for the yearly growth may be the increased lineup itself; this generation includes a third "Pro Max" model for which there was no room in the previous Xiaomi 15 series.
Global Availability Uncertain for Pro Models
Though the opening numbers in the home market are encouraging, early signs would suggest that international availability of the Xiaomi 17 series may well be limited. Current speculation does not bode well for the availability of the Xiaomi 17 Pro and Xiaomi 17 Pro Max models outside China.
