Under RGG Summit 2025's livestream, Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio has confirmed the latest leaks by officially announcing Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties, a complete remake of the 2009 game. Along with this, they announced an enhancement for Yakuza 0 and next-gen releases for Kiwami and Kiwami 2.
Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties An 'Extreme' Remake
The studio likes to refer to the project as an 'extreme' remake, changing almost every aspect of the original game. A summary of just some of the improvements:
- Visually Reimagined Completely new graphics bring to life the streets of Okinawa and Tokyo.
- Elevated Combat The brawling action has been upgraded and refined for a much more brutal experience.
- Expanded Story More emotion and depth will be injected into the story through added scenes.
- New Side Content Adding brand-new and enhanced side content to the game.
Side Game 'Dark Ties'
Dark Ties, a brand-new side game, is included with the remake. This prequel story centers around character Yoshitaka Mine and follows him as he is drawn into the yakuza after personal tragedy. Gameplay will revolve around exciting boxing-style combat, with several different side competitions to engage in.
Release Date, Platforms, and Price
Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties is slated to be released on February 11, 2026, for PS4, PS5, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2. Pre-orders are now live.

Yakuza 0 Director's Cut Details
The announcement was also made for the Yakuza 0 Director's Cut.
This is basically the enhanced version of the fans' favorite prequel, Yakuza 0. Director's Cut will include:
- Dual Audio New English voice acting.
- New cut scenes additional scenes to develop the story.
- Online Co-op An online co-op mode "Red Light Raid" will be available after the game launches.
It is important to note that save data from the original Yakuza 0 will not be compatible with the Director's Cut, nor will there be any way for existing owners to upgrade. It will be released on December 8, 2025, for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series S|X.
Next-Gen Ports and Anniversary Bundle
On the same day of December 8, 2025, native next-gen ports of Yakuza Kiwami and Yakuza Kiwami 2 will be released for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S|X.
A physical-only Yakuza Series 20th Anniversary Bundle will be sold for PC and PS5, including Yakuza 0 Director's Cut, Yakuza Kiwami, and Yakuza Kiwami 2.
