AMD's Major Ryzen 9000 Series Expansion Reportedly Planned at CES in 2026
New reports suggest that AMD is preparing for a grand expansion of its Ryzen 9000 series desktop CPUs in January 2026 at CES. Sources state that the launch will include new X3D gaming processors and the first Zen 5-based APUs for the AM5 platform.
New Ryzen 9000X3D CPUs on the Horizon
New media reports suggest that two new 3D V-Cache processors are currently being developed, featuring different configurations than those aforementioned.
- Ryzen 9 9950X3D2: This CPU is said to be the first consumer processor to have both chiplets (CCDs) with 3D V-Cache and is expected to feature a total of 192 MB of L3 cache, a 64 MB increase over the standard 9950X3D but with a reported lower boost clock by 100 MHz.
- Ryzen 7 9850X3D: This processor is expected to retain the 3D V-Cache CCD as single but will be clocked 400 MHz higher than the existing Ryzen 7 9800X3D.
Zen 5 APUs: Ryzen 9000G Series for AM5
Simultaneously with the X3D chips, AMD is expected to introduce its Zen 5-based Ryzen 9000G APUs. This matters because, after the Ryzen 8000G series early in 2024, new faster APUs are finally arriving for the AM5 socket.
The series is expected to include SKUs based on the "Strix Point" architecture, which could deliver up to 12 Zen 5 cores and 24 threads to a desktop APU for the first time. These chips are also expected to feature powerful integrated graphics architecture based on RDNA 3.5, on par with the Radeon 890M.
Surprise Entry: Ryzen 5 7500X3D Spotted
In a separate development, AMD seems not done yet with its Zen 4 line-up. The unnamed Ryzen 5 7500X3D was spotted on a site of a UK distributor, suggesting yet another budget-oriented X3D chip coming into existence.
No full specifications are listed, but the Ryzen 5 7500X3D is anticipated to be a 6-core-12-thread CPU with 96 MB of L3 cache due to 3D V-Cache. It will likely be slower than the Ryzen 5 7600X. This would be the least powerful X3D chip so far, and yet another option for low-budget gamers. Rumors suggest that AMD could go on to unveil this CPU at CES 2026, together with the new Ryzen 9000 series.
