Anbernic Announces Flexible Dual Screens for RG DS Portable

Along with the device in a teaser video launched for RG DS handheld gaming device, viewers will get to understand that this dual-screen feature has more uses other than mimicking Nintendo DS and 3DS. There are practical aspects of multitasking, which the video shows.

Not Just a DS Clone Multitasking Features.

Of course, the catchy point within the RG DS is that it will play both dual-screen consoles that have been emulated. But Anbernic proved the second screen would also be available for alternate uses other than that. It's shown in the teaser that one would play a single-screen game on one display and use the other for something else. Some examples of this include the following:

  • Watching a video on one display while playing a game on the other.
  • Following a game walkthrough on the second screen while the game runs on the primary one.

This thereby situates the RG DS as a much more flexible device than most other retro handhelds that cater mainly to gaming purposes.

Size and Dimension

Latest rumors confirms that Anbernic RG DS is to be about the same size as Nintendo DSi XL. Thus, this calls for a larger clamshell device, with clearly taller and wider dimensions.

Release Date yet Unknown

In spite of presenting such exciting features, Anbernic remains yet to disclose an official launch date or pricing. Fans are still waiting for details regarding when the dual screen will hit the market.
