Durabook Adds Another Rigid Tablet with Intel Core Ultra Power
Durabook launches the R10, a protected Windows tablet designed to function under extreme conditions, with an infinitely rugged chassis powered by an Intel Core Ultra processor with modular expansion options and a hot-swappable battery.
Extreme Environment Ready
The Durabook R10 was built tough for durability and portability. Its 10.1-inch IPS display is 1920x1200, rated to shine for 1000 nits with sunlight. The touchscreen can be used with gloved or wet hands, also with an MPP 1.51 stylus.
The tablet casing meets multiple protection certifications: MIL-STD-810H (military grade for sturdiness), IP66 (protection against dust and high-pressure water jets), MIL-STD 461G (electromagnetic interference resistance), and ANSI/UL C1D2 (suitable for potentially explosive areas). Further, it is engineered to withstand a drop from 180 cm (~6 ft), vibration, and extreme temperatures of -29°C to +63°C.
Core Performance and Specifications
An Intel Core Ultra 7 268V CPU can be mounted on the R10, where supported memory configuration ranges are 16GB to 32GB of LPDDR5X RAM and NVMe-based storage configurations of 256GB, 512GB, 1TB, or 2TB.
For connectivity, it offers an extensive range:
- USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A
- Thunderbolt 4
- Ethernet and RS-232
- Optional 5G module
- Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4
- GPS
Mostly Modular, Mostly All-Day Operation
Functional expansion for the tablet is possible via removable modules such as the keyboard, barcode scanner, RFID reader, or smart card reader. The Durabook states that users can achieve autonomy for up to 16 hours, and change the battery with no interruption with its hot-swappable battery.
Security & More
The tablet has an 11MP rear-facing camera and a 5MP front-facing camera, both equipped with physical privacy shutters. The fingerprint reader and TPM 2.0 chip facilitated enhancements to security.
