Huawei Mate 80 RS Ultimate Design Released
The luxury smartphone series has been updated with the launch of the Mate 80 RS Ultimate Design by Huawei. This premium version was launched alongside all the other Mate 80 series models; hardware-wise, it sits on top of the Mate 80 Pro Max but sets itself apart with the use of more premium materials and aesthetic changes.
Construction Classy and Premium
To start things off, we can discuss build quality as a signature feature of the RS Ultimate Design. The titanium frame of the RS Ultimate Design replaces the standard metal casing of the Pro Max. The Kunlun Glass 2 secures both the front and back of the device. These materials add up to give a hefty total weight of 249 g. The display is an 8,000 nit tandem OLED, similar in brightness capacity to that of its other sibling.
Hardware and Performance Specs
Underneath, the smartphone runs the Kirin 9030 Pro chipset. It retains some crucial specifications from the Mate 80 Pro Max, including
- Battery: Capacity of 6,000 mAh.
- Charging: 66W wired charging and 50W wireless charging.
- Rear Cameras: Same camera setup as the Mate 80 Pro Max.
- Biometrics: Side-mounted capacitive fingerprint scanner.
Unique Front Camera Arrangement
One noticeable difference for this model lies in the arrangement of the front-facing camera. The RS Ultimate Design has utilized a triple punch-hole cut where a 13 MP lens is sandwiched between 3D depth sensors that enhance its facial recognition or depth-sensing capabilities.
Price and Configuration
The Huawei Mate 80 RS Ultimate design is now available with two storage configurations in China, while both options get 20 GB of RAM as standard.
- 512 GB Storage: CNY 11,999(approx. $1,699)
- 1 TB Storage: CNY 12,999(approx. $1,839)
Details regarding its international launch for this particular model are yet to be revealed.
