MagicX Unveils Two DS 46 Handheld Focused on 3DS Emulation
MagicX has announced a totally new handheld gaming device focusing this time on Nintendo DS and 3DS emulation. The device is currently named Two DS 46 and features capabilities intended to allow a lot of 3DS games to play at high-resolution upscaled. This announcement follows that of the One Retro 45 and One Flip 50.
Two Possible Designs, Name Not Final
The project is still at its very early stages. MagicX said that "Two DS 46" might not be the final name for the device. The company has presented the community with two distinctive design concepts; users can now vote through a poll to get feedback on:
- A redesigned version of its Zero 40 design.
- A design that closely resembles the Nintendo 2DS.
Currently, community preference seems to be 50-50 between the two designs.
Performance Objectives and a Major Differentiator
MagicX wants Two DS 46 to be set at a hefty performance target. The goal is for the handheld to be able to play a fair amount of Nintendo 3DS titles at a resolution scaling of 2x and above. Its performance would be hugely above most upcoming devices, including the Anbernic RG DS, anyhow, which is rumored only as capable of DS emulation.
Known Features
MagicX has confirmed one important detail regarding the display for the Two DS 46: A 4.58-inch panel that single-handedly simulates the dual screens of the original hardware-a 3.42-inch top display and a 2.93-inch bottom display.
