Saber Interactive Talks About an Early Announcement for Space Marine 3

The development team has clarified in an interview on Warhammer TV that the announcement of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 3 by Saber Interactive, just six months after the successful launch of the prior installment, was intended to appease concern over the timing and inform players that the two projects will not be competing for resources.

Development Cycle and Continued Support for Space Marine 2

Hollis-Leick indicated this early announcement is mainly because game development cycles are long. He also emphasized that the two games have a long time investment and separate paths of production.

Announcing a third game doesn’t in any way mean that we’re not going to continue creating content for the existing game. The thing is, the development cycles for these projects are long. For Space Marine 2, it was something like four years. And so, for Space Marine 3, it’s going to be the same.

According to him, the essence of the announcement was to reassure fans that the series continues, while, in fact, considerable DLC for Space Marine 2 is already in the works, and quite a bit more is expected.

Space Marine 2's Content Roadmap Confirmed for 2026

To strengthen the guarantee of its continued support, Saber Interactive has codified a content roadmap for Space Marine 2 extending throughout 2026. The following are planned additions:

  • Two new PvE missions
  • Techmarine class play
  • Omnissiah Axe weapon for Techmarine
  • A Battle-barge expansion
  • Stratagems (new battlefield conditions and rewards)
  • A progression system update
  • A new enemy type called Terminus
  • Two new PvP arenas
  • PvP Stratagems
  • A new siege map

Clarification Concerning the Necron Tease

Another topic Hollis-Leick discussed was the Necron tease presented at the end of Space Marine 2. He linked a potential Necron appearance to the Blackstone-like tech seen in the story without fully committing to whether the Necrons would be a part of this.

As to whether we’ll see any more of them, that I cannot say. But it certainly was a nice thing to see at the end of the game there.
