Zinwa Q27 The New Prototypes Evidence the Making of a Modern QWERTY Smartphone
The Zinwa Q27. With the old-school BlackBerry aesthetics along with the physical QWERTY keyboard on one side, it is newer on the hardware side with an AMOLED display and a MediaTek Dimensity 7300 processor. Although it might not see the light of day at least until Q2 2026, the company has demonstrated the prototypes of the early design of the said smartphone.
Prototype Design-Up Close
Fresh images and a short video on Discord and Reddit give a first glimpse of a phone scaling the age-old BlackBerry level. It centers on a full QWERTY keyboard with designs for standard letter, number, Alt, Shift, symbol, and navigation keys meant for a thumbs-up typing experience.
But the "tool belt" of function keys that sit astride the keyboard bear no resemblance to those on old BlackBerrys. From left to right, arrow keys are on either side of a square icon (most likely for "recents" in Android) and a triangle icon (probably for our old friend "home"). Between the two arrow keys on that tool belt sits a small square that is expected to fit an optical fingerprint sensor that could also work double-time as a tiny touchpad for cursor control.
The structure seems to use metal on the sides, and the back has that retro glossy round plastic thing going on.
