Pragmata PC Demo Performance Review Shows Great RE Engine Optimization and System Requirements

Pragmata is Gaming at its Peak, with a Demo on PC Showing Great Optimizations

After being shown at The Game Awards 2025, Capcom released a PC demo for the upcoming sci-fi action game entitled Pragmata. Early impressions demonstrate the great optimization of the RE Engine within the enclosed environments of this game, providing for consistent gameplay and smooth experience without the performance issues noted with some of Capcom's recent open-world titles.

Pragmata Demo Performance Impressions

The roughly 25 minutes it takes to finish the demo was glitch-free, except for the initial shader compilation. The system used for this assessment was an AMD Ryzen 9 5950x and an NVIDIA RTX 3080ti, and Hp Omen 15 2020 with I5 10300h and RTX2070MQ.

Here is a synopsis of how my desktop fared in performing these benchmarks:

  • 1440p. All settings maxed out. Ray Tracing and DLAA. Averaged around 100 frames per second.
  • 1440p. All settings maxed out. Ray Tracing and DLSS (Quality). Framerate increased to around 125 fps on average.

Here is a summary of how my Laptop fared in performing these benchmarks:

  • 1080p; max settings; DLAA; averaged around 80 FPS.
  • 1080p; max settings; DLSS Quality; average framerate increased to around 95 FPS.

Performance remained stable even through the last encounter of the demo, which had many large effects. The demo provides options to disable ray tracing, chromatic aberration, depth of field, lens flare, and bloom from within gameplay. Frame Generation is also available for those with compatible hardware.

Release Date and Development Insights

Pragmata is slated to launch on April 26, 2026, for PC and the Xbox Series S|X, PS5, and Nintendo Switch 2.

According to the developers, the demo was released to gain player feedback on performance on PC and mouse-and-keyboard controls, thus allowing the team to thoroughly optimize the final game. They did say, however, that framerate stability was more important than graphical fidelity, stating that the demo content was separate from the storyline but used one of the main stages of the game.

Regarding the Switch 2 version, things are going pretty well so far with the RE engine being comfortably compatible with the new hardware. The last delay was due to the team working on fine-tuning their unique dual-character gameplay mechanic, not in order to push things towards the Switch 2's launch.

How to Try Your Hand at the Demo

The Pragmata Demo can now be accessed through Steam. The complete download size is 7.4 GB. No bonuses or transfers of save data will take place once the demo is completed.
