A Near 50-Year-Old Leon Kennedy Gets to Make a Comeback
Leon Kennedy continues to be dragged to the game of Resident Evil Requiem just as he was thinking of retirement. The character is old but that is fine with the developers. Producer Akifumi Nakanishi shed light upon the decision to bring back this fan-favorite near the age of fifty.
The Veteran is Pitted Against the Cowardly Newcomer
Nakanishi mentions that above everything else, Leon's age and experience were the point. His weather-beaten disposition is in stark contrast to the second protagonist, a newcomer named Grace. Leon is supposed to be charming and altruistic, but he's definitely still sharp-witted and probably has a lot of sarcastic quips to contribute to the character development.
This seasoned pro is placed in harsh contrast with Grace, whom Nakanishi says without hesitation is "the series' biggest coward." Such a juxtaposition analytically allows Leon to employ calm, assured, and cunning experience against Grace's naive fright.
"I hope you're expecting the sarcasm and subtle humor that only a grown man can bring."

Gameplay Mirroring the Character Experience
This contrast is not only part of the storytelling. The gameplay will, therefore, be split up according to each character's capabilities. Leon's sections will be action-oriented and filled with martial arts reminiscent of Resident Evil 4, whereas Grace's sections will be a return to classic survival horror where the emphasis will be on fear and dark atmosphere, much akin to Resident Evil 2.
Release Date and Platforms
Resident Evil Requiem is scheduled for a release on February 27, 2026, as per Capcom. The game will be available for download on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and on Nintendo Switch 2.
