Todd Howard Refused Fallout Series Cameo to Avoid Distracting Viewers

Todd Howard, the top official of Bethesda, told that he received an invitation to appear as a cameo in the Amazon version of Fallout, but he ultimately declined those offers. He told that the main reason for not taking up the offer was avoiding taking the audience away from experience.

Reason Behind the Decision

In an interview, Howard revealed he was asked for a bunch of cameos including the first season. The special one was something like Dr. Strangelove, during a Vault-Tec meeting scene.

Yet, he believes his best works take place behind closed doors, and he'd become more of a nuisance on the screen than a contributor.

I was offered cameos in a lot of episodes, even in the first season... But, I think I'm best behind the camera. Apparently, I have turned down all those cameo offers. I don't want to carry away attention from the screen. I don't want everybody to be like, "Oh, that's Todd"

Possibility of Future Approaches

Howard may not be wannabe for the time being, but he has not left that option completely open for the future. Over time, opinion may change regarding that, although no signals are available at present about when and in what way that might happen.
