Xiaomi Raises Prices on Flagship Tablets due to Shortage of Memory

RAM shortages are continuously affecting the prices of consumer electronics items, and Xiaomi has announced that its flagship devices will also see increased prices-the change is already active in the Chinese market on December 16, 2025.

Models Affected by Changes and New Pricing

Revisions in price have been made for several flagship models from Xiaomi. The first to be affected are the Xiaomi Pad 8 and Redmi Pad 2-the company's budget model.

  • The base model of the Xiaomi Pad 8 has increased from 2,299 yuan, up from 2,199 yuan ($312 to $325).
  • The beginning price for the Xiaomi Pad 8 Pro will now also see an increase from 2,799 yuan to 2,899 yuan ($397 to $412).
  • The Redmi Pad 2 had the highest percentage increase and is now priced at a new starting price from 999 yuan to 1199 yuan of ($170).

Industry-wide Memory Cost Problems

Price increase comes in direct response to market conditions. Previously, Liu Weibing, President of the company, mentioned that prices for memory components have increased much more than expected by the company.

According to TrendForce, market analysts predict that in the first quarter of 2026, memory prices will rise sharply again, thus imposing further market impacts on the electronics industry.
