God of War Amazon Prime Video Series Cast and Production Details

The God of War Live Action Series at Amazon features Ed Skrein in the role of Baldur. Ed Skrein will play the role of Baldur who serves as the main opponent to Odin in the upcoming Amazon Prime Video series God of War. The production team has begun filming in Vancouver after the network granted them permission to create two seasons of the show. The series adapts the Norse era of the franchise, focusing on the relationship between Kratos and his young son, Atreus.

Skrein joins a growing ensemble of actors bringing the PlayStation franchise to life. The following actors comprise the confirmed cast

  • Ryan Hurst Kratos
  • Callum Vinson Atreus
  • Ed Skrein Baldur
  • Mandy Patinkin Odin
  • Ólafur Darri Ólafsson Thor
  • Alastair Duncan Mimir
  • Max Parker Heimdall
  • Danny Woodburn & Jeff Gulka Brok and Sindri

In this adaptation, Baldur is depicted as Odin’s most lethal operative. He was cursed with a condition at birth that prevents him from experiencing physical sensations and happiness which fuels his desire to find an equal match. Skrein will use a brawling combat style in Deadpool and Game of Thrones to demonstrate his character's raw power and unpredictable fighting style.

The narrative follows the events of the 2018 game. Atreus and Kratos travel through multiple realms to spread Faye’s ashes following her death. Kratos uses the journey to teach Atreus about godhood responsibilities who then helps Kratos to rediscover his human side.

The showrunner and writer for the series is Ronald D. Moore who previously worked on Battlestar Galactica. Frederick E.O. Toye directs the first two episodes of the series. The production company combines resources from Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios with PlayStation Productions.
