Google Gemini and Apple Music Launch New AI Music Features
Music creation is open to all people now. Google and Apple are moving their advanced music technology into mainstream use through their main platforms which now include generative AI music tools. The new audio interaction methods allow users to create original music from images and develop complete playlists using just one text command.
The Google Gemini AI system received a major update. The Lyria 3 model enables users to generate high quality music tracks which last for 30 seconds. The system requires more than prompt input because it offers users multiple ways to create their own work which has never existed before.
Key Features of Lyria 3
- Multi Prompting You can generate music based on text, but you can also upload a photo or video. The creator can upload a video clip which Gemini will use to make a custom soundtrack within seconds.
- Original Lyrics You do not have to write your own verses. The system uses your emotional state to produce custom lyrics based on your requirements.
Each musical piece contains its own AI generated album cover which Google provides through its Nano Banana image model. The system supports multiple languages including English and Hindi and Japanese and French and German.
Usage Limits
Google established a usage limit to ensure service stability. Free users can whip up 10 tracks per day, while AI Premium subscribers can generate anywhere from 20 to 100 tracks depending on their tier.
Apple isn’t sitting this one out. A new option called Playlist Playground appears in the iOS 26.4 beta release. The system employs Apple Intelligence to create tailored musical experiences from your imprecise suggestions.
The system creates a 25 track playlist with an original description and custom cover art based on the user provided prompt 90s grunge for a rainy drive. The system enables users to discover music without effort because it functions like successful AI tools which Spotify already has.
Artists face major challenges with their rights because AI music exists. Google has publicly declared its dedication to copyright protection through its mindful approach. The company announced that Lyria 3 used certified data sources which were based on authorized partner agreements. The company has established these measures to protect creators
- The AI system will use famous artist style elements as inspiration when users request Gemini to sound like a specific famous artist.
- The Gemini system produces music tracks that contain an invisible SynthID watermark which shows the music was created by AI and prevents people from claiming it as human created music. Artists have the right to report content which they believe the AI system has used their protected intellectual property.
The Music tool appears in the Gemini desktop application for users above 18 years of age under the Tools section. Apple users require iOS 26.4 beta access to Playlist Playground which will launch for public use this spring.
The barrier between an idea and a finished song is getting thinner every day. These tools offer users musical expression space which was not available before for both casual listeners and digital creators.
