Sony PlayStation AI Patent for Personalized Podcasts
Sony has secured a patent for a system that uses neural networks to create personalized podcasts for gamers. The technology which obtained its patent approval in June 2024 enables direct implementation of AI content into the PlayStation system.
The patent describes a system which uses AI technology to deliver news updates according to what players like and how they play. Users can select their preferred audio or video viewing option for the shows. The patent enables content delivery through recognizable video game characters who use their original voices for character based hosting.
The AI system is designed to analyze a user's activity across the PlayStation platform. The digital hosts can accomplish two tasks with this system.
The system delivers news about games which the player already owns or shows interest in. The system generates custom jokes based on the user's recent gaming progress and their current gaming challenges. The broadcast tone changes according to how much the player interacts with the game.
Sony has increased its AI research activities through this development of podcast technology. The company has previously explored neural network applications such as AI ghosts, which could potentially complete game sections or play entire titles on behalf of the user.
The new patent represents a transition toward more interactive and customized media experiences which will be delivered through its gaming equipment.
