The Riftbreaker World Expansion IV Update Details
The World Expansion IV update for The Riftbreaker is set to launch on March 5. The update establishes Open Campaign mode as its main feature while adding the frozen biome Cryo Fields and multiple advanced buildings and defensive structures to the game.
The Open Campaign function as a sandbox mode that lets players experience the game without following its narrative restrictions. The game presents multiple variations to standard story mode through its different design elements.
- Players can select their starting point from any biome, which includes all the challenging zones of the game, because the game permits free selection of all biomes from the Volcanic Area to the Acidic Plains.
- The mode removes all narrative based missions and dialogue. The sole objective of the mission requires players to build the Prime Rift Station for their Earth return.
- Players have complete access to all technologies from the beginning, because they only need to pay research costs and obtain biological samples to gain access to everything except locked content which requires story progression.
- Players without DLC packs can explore all game locations which include Metallic Valley and Fungal Swamp because all locations remain accessible to them.
- The mode supports both solo play and co op play, which accommodates four players at maximum.
The Cryo Fields is a low temperature environment which remains covered in frost throughout the entire year. The area contains an open design that enables free movement between its widely distributed large resource stockpiles. The location has several important elements which include
- Natural Supercoolant occurs in this biome because its natural resources enable players to extract supercoolant without requiring them to create it through production.
- The new species of plants and animals require players to develop new combat and farming methods which work in freezing temperatures.
- The Cryo Fields area becomes available for play in three game modes Story Campaign after Palladium Research, Open Campaign, and Survival Mode, which lasts for 90 minutes.
The update introduces new buildings and defensive hardware which enable the player to expand their gameplay options through additional storage space and dedicated elemental defense structures.
- The new Energy Storage units at Level 3 can maintain up to 400k energy, while Solid Material Storage units at the same level can hold 20k of each individual resource.
- Icicle Tower (2x2) The tower inflicts cryo damage while releasing ice spikes, which create a zone that reduces enemy speed at the point of impact.
- Inferno Tower (2x2) The tower operates as a long range artillery weapon, which launches cluster grenades that produce multiple fire explosions upon reaching their target.
- The Shredder Tower (1x1) operates as a quick firing support unit, which inflicts acid damage through its broad horizontal attack range.
The World Expansion IV content will go live on March 5. The developers established the core functionality of the game, while they planned to finish the final assets and balance modifications for the Cryo Fields biome before the game release.
