Archetype Entertainment Announces Exodus Video Game Release Delay to Early 2027 With New Gameplay Showcasing Combat Mechanics Railclaw Traversal and Time Dilation Narratives
The video game Exodus will be launched by Archetype Entertainment The development team has moved Exodus from its initial 2026 release date to an early 2027 launch window for PlayStation 5 Xbox Series X/S and PC. The studio, which former BioWare veterans head, showed a three part gameplay trailer that demonstrated the first technical aspects of combat, traversal, and world building in the Centauri Cluster.
The game features combat mechanics and squad based teamwork. The first segment of the footage demonstrates cover based shooting on the outskirts of Lyonesse. Players control Jun Aslan, who is supported by his companions Tom and Elise. The combat system requires players to use strategic positioning while they control their squad members who have special abilities. The game has important elements which include these features:
- Companion Integration: Squad mates like Elise provide fire support, including specialized missile barrages to break enemy lines.
- The user interface displays a weapon selection wheel which enables players to change their weapons during fights against both human and robotic opponents.
- The footage highlights a movement system which enables faster movement than traditional cover based RPGs, while allowing players to move quickly between protective areas.
Railclaw serves as the method for characters to move through the game world. The second portion of the reveal focuses on environmental navigation using a tool called the Railclaw. The specialized grappling hook enables the protagonist to traverse complex vertical spaces which include the outer sections of a huge space tower. The developers consider the Railclaw to be an essential element of the "Traveler’s toolkit" which helps players gain altitude during battles or to move through dangerous areas.
The Setting of Time Dilation and Its Effects on the Tarakhakon People. The events of Exodus take place in the year 40,000. The story follows the battle between baseline humans and "Celestials," who are the advanced life form that dominates the world. Time Dilation represents a core element that drives both gameplay and narrative development. The protagonist experiences a time difference where their travel to star systems at near light speed results in the passage of decades on Lidon, which serves as the stronghold planet.
The final segment of the footage explores an ancient Celestial shrine on the planet Khonsu. The environment displays the game's main objective of "The Traveler" which searches for advanced alien technology remnants to protect humanity. The architectural style of the building appears to be alien even though humans and Celestials share a common ancestry.
